I heart faces

I am going to enter a contest on the site I heart faces. This picture is from our first puddle walk of the year. We had one nice day last week, and took advantage of it! My son loves to play in the puddles with his rain boots. It such fun for him, and for me. ( I get lots of camera practice on these walks) We love puddle walks!

Painting in the bath. For the artistic, yet lazy mom who does not want to clean-up after a paint session. The best of both worlds. This is a new blog template I just downloaded from Florabella. She has the free download on her facebook page if you like it! Happy Monday!

Lazy Sunday...

57/365

Ahh. We had a very nice Saturday! Here are a couple of "the boys" playing. I have kind of gotten away from the plain old lifestyle pictures that I wanted to focus on for this project. This week I am going to try to do more lifestyle pictures. Are you ready for my "lifestyle"?

So we are almost snowed in, well at least there is enough snow out there to want to stay in! We did a little painting this morning. Brett is really into mixing colors with his paints. He looks like such a little artist.

Sun flare edit

Well an unexpected snow day has given me time to play around with these photos fom the other day. Here is the one that I posted earlier in the week edited and another one from that day. From the looks of it, I may not get the chance to play around with sun of any kind for awhile. Snow, snow and more snow is in our near future! Looks like it is back to snowflake macros!

Here is another one from yesterday. I edited it using a new action from Myfourhens.com she has the best actions and is offering 50% off everything in her shop this weekend! Have a great Friday everyone!

On my "to learn" list is taking pictures with sun flares. This is my first try. I am posting the unedited photo. I am hoping that in editing I can brighten Brett up a little bit, and get the photo to look the way I have seen other sun flare pictures. I will post the edited one when I get it finished. Brett was not very cooperative so it was very hard to get my focus and settings. Hopefully there will be a lot more sunny days in the near future to practice!

Happy President's Day! We are home and enjoying our day OFF! Too bad it is snowy and cold agian. Here are some berries that are somehow growing in this cold weather. The one day of nice weather we had last week must have confused them. I am also trying out a new watermark. I am undecided about it. Let me know what you think. Happy Monday!

I just felt like shopping today. It is cold, but the sun is out, it seemed like the perfect day for a drive to Target. I took my little buddy with me. He made out like a bandit: new shoes, new rug for his room, new underwear... and this blue bear head blanket. Now this blanket really would have come in handy about 8 months ago when I was looking for it. We have the exact same blanket already (in brown), that he has slept with everyday since he was about a month old. This August we thought it was time to find a backup since he was going to daycare and grandmas and we didn't want to be without it...well there were none to be found. So we suffered through with one "snug-ma" as he is called. Many hours of my life have been spent searching for snug-ma. Now we have 2. Life is good.

Woohoo 50 days. I was pretty sure when I started this that I wouldn't last a week and now look 50 days! I am so happy that I started this. I already feel like my "skills" have improved, and I have so many photos of moments that I normally would have let slip away. Like this one of my son and husband crossing the street. I almost feel naked now if I don't have a camera with me. I have started carrying my rebel around in purse for moments just like these...

Happy 50 to all of you who have made it here with me. Good luck on your journey, and enjoy mine along the way!

Funny how 46 degrees feels so warm in the spring and so cold in the fall. Today we went out and enjoyed the weather. This was our first of many puddle walks this year. It is one of our favorite things to do. Brett got himself ready for the walk, which explains the fedora and boots on the wrong feet. Ahhh. I am ready for many more days like these...

My dear valentine sent me flowers at work today. They are gorgeous lillies that I am thinking you may see a lot of this week. Is it bad that my first thought when I got them was "Awww. How sweet!" Then my next thought was, I can't wait to get home to try my macro on them. Well enjoy. I appologize in advance if this is all you see pictures of all week. It is worse than snowy out, everything is wet and dead outside. My dear lillies are the prettiest thing you will see around here.

Happy Valentine's Day!

Happy Valentine's Day! I hope everyone has a valentine to say I love you to tomorrow!

So I kept seeing all these photo contests this week with the theme "hearts". I thought I would try to get a "heart" picture to enter. This was not what I had in mind.

So in another life, I was a Kindergarten Teacher. Or maybe it was just two years ago, but it seems like lifetimes ago. Once a Kindergarten Teacher, always a Kindergarten Teacher. I like to encourage Brett to draw self portraits of himself every few months so I can keep them. They are always so stinkin' cute. Plus they are a great way to assess writing development. I don't know how he is ever going to turn out right with all the assessments and picture torture I put him through :)

We had enough energy on Thursday night to make some little pizzas. Brett loves to help in the kitchen. Especially when the recipe requires cheese!

I'm still here! I still took a picture everyday this week. I just got WAY behind in my posting. Life will do that to you sometimes... Here is a foot picture. I have seen so many of these done and I just could not get the look I was doing for. Still there is our feet. His little tiny cute ones, and my, well my feet! Feet are just not really that cute when they are your own. These are from Wednesday night. We are in our comfy clothes and in bed. It was 6:00 :)

Packers WON!

So this may be a bonus post, or it may end up being THE post of the day depending on how tired I am after work. I'm a gal who likes her sleep. 11:00 is really late for me! Anyway. I wanted to post this picture because this was the picture that was taken one second before the one below. It is a nice picture, everyone smiling, looking at the camera (well almost everyone) , etc. Except I really liked the one I took after better. The one I posted yesterday I feel really encompases the feeling of the moment. This is something I like to do. I take the posed picture, and then keep snapping afterward. This is where you get the "real" shots. I challenge you the next time you are handed a camera to take a group shot be sure to snap before and after the actual picture. You may be pleasantly surprised at what you get. Life is not posed :)

Happy Monday! Let's hope I make it through the day. A mid-afternoon coffee may be in order today. Anyone want to drive an hour to the nearest Starbucks and drop one off for me around 1? Thanks, I'll be waiting...

Can you tell they are excited? Lot's of happy people in my family tonight! Yes, that is my son. Yes, it was 10:30. Yes, he is only 3. Yes, it is way past his bedtime. No, I don't think he will ever forget this moment. He kept yelling "The Packer's Won!" You can see his arm pump in this picture. It was so cute. Ahhh. Sweet dreams.

WOW! This Saturday flew by! Here is one in case you are wondering what team we will be cheering for tomorrow. I just snapped this one of my son. About a minute after I took it, he fell asleep and is now sleeping next to me on the couch. He had a busy day playing with his cousins. Anyway, I married into a family of die-hard Green Bay fans, note the name of my son.

So I was just cleaning pictures off of my rebel, and found this one that my son must have taken on Monday. I didn't even think he was actually taking any pictures! I really like how he used the "rule of thirds" in this shot. He is such a natural :)

---just had to share!

Well since I took over 300 shots yesterday, I decided instead of actually taking a picture today, I would use that time to learn something new in photoshop. Today I taught myself how to use a storyboard. This one was a free download from thecoffeshopblog.com. It was much easier to do than I thought. I have a feeling I will be using many of these in the future. Here is a storyboard of the portraits I took yesterday of the boy. I promise tomorrow to shake things up with some more macros in case you don't love looking at that cute face as much as I do! Happy Groundhog Day! Spring is around the corner, and I sure hope so, we are home AGAIN on a snow day!

We had a snow day today! I learned so much, and took so many pictures, that I don't even know where to begin sharing today. I FINALLY found a "sweet" spot in my house for taking portraits, but they still need edited...and don't even get me started on the macros I did... I think this one is my favorite right now.
